Equipment Designer
Mike is also a designer of clays equipment.
I am a former range owner, course
designer, target setter, shooter, and shooting instructor. Having
over forty years experience in the clay target industry, I promise
you that I have been there! I have faced the problems that a range
owner incurs, and have tried many things to make my operations run
smoothly. I have always wanted the best for my clients, but as a
businessman I understand that spending money must be done with care
and must always be cost efficient. I think my products do all of
these things.
I hope that you agree and we can to do
some business together,
Mike McAlpine

Shooting Stands
Price $195.00 each
Price includes Trex Table and Menu Board
TABLE NOT SHOWN

 |
My shooting stands are built not only
for the shooter, but also for the range owner, trap help and target
setters.
For the Shooter
these stands give plenty of room to swing the gun. They are 42” wide
from side to side. They do not have a top bar that limits a tall
shooter, and the center bar is set at 33 inches to allow the
shortest shooter to be able to make a move on a low bird. The top of
the model has a table that includes a run rack on either side of the
stand. Shooters, you no longer have to lean your expensive gun
against the metal bars. All stands are built with a menu board that
allows for easy vision for the shooter and the rest of the squad.
The Range Owner
will love the quality of these stands. They are made to last a
lifetime. These stands are made with one inch square tubing. (Bottom
bar and feet are made out of 1x1x1/8 metal. The extra weight will
give the stand stability and strength where it is needed. The middle
bar and legs are also made of the same material, but these parts are
made with 14 gauge square tubing which reduces the top weight of the
stand and makes them easy to move. Your Trap Help will love this
feature and this will make their job much easier. They will also
like the ease of removing and putting out menus. CBS’s trademarked
design allows menus to simply slide in or out. Don’t worry about a
blowing wind. If installed right, menus will stay put. The table is
made out of 1x6 inch Trex. This material will also last a lifetime.
It will not rot, split or warp unlike wood that must be replaced
every few years thus eliminating costly repairs and maintenance.
Your Target
Setter will appreciate a stand that is easy to move. Stand
placement is a key part of making a safe course. Everyone will
appreciate this because an unsafe presentation, no matter how good,
will not be accepted by anyone, especially the shooters. One of the
fastest ways to empty your parking lot is to throw unsafe
presentations! All stands are equipped with anchor holes and pins
just in case you must set the station on a hillside. Also the bottom
bar is set five inches off the ground so obstacles like rocks or
tree roots can be avoided.
For the Range
owner these stands will break down for shipping. With the
removal of only four bolts (two per bar) the stand will break down
into three pieces. This will make shipping easy and far less
expensive. Because of the simple design it will take about three
minutes to assemble each stand. I truly believe theses are the best
stands on the market. Can you build a more elegant and expensive
stand? Sure you can but the question is why would you want to? You
can build big permanent stands and decks but again, why would you
want to? Sporting clays is a game of variety. When stands are fixed
to the ground and can’t be moved you loose the ability to change
your course. From experience I can tell you this will cost you money
in the short and long run. Shooters who frequent your property will
get tired of the same old course and either find another place to
shoot or some other game to spend their money on.

Gun Racks
Price
$165.00 each
(Does not include trash can)

 |
This product is built for the
Shooter, Range Owner and Trapper.
It is built out of
steel and ABS Plastic. The rack will hold twelve guns of all sizes.
The rack is designed as a tripod and is circular. All guns will set
into the rack in a circle. This design will allow for a small trash
can to fit in the middle to help keep your course clean. Being in
the middle, the can will not be affected by the wind. The rack
weighs a total of 35 pounds and can be moved with one hand. The
tripod design makes it very stable and the legs can be pushed down
into the ground (soft dirt) to level it.
My gun racks are
made of 7/16 cold roll bar and muzzle cradles are made of ABS
Plastic plus a top plate made of 1/8 flat metal. Instead of being
half ovals, the muzzle cradles are an elongated shape.
Barrels must go straight in and straight out. If the rack is bumped
or hit all guns should remain in. I have always wondered why most,
if not all, gun racks have the half oval design. This design does
not secure the guns like my elongated design.
This product is
priced so the range owner doesn’t have to spend a lot of money to
protect his client’s property. Gun racks will stack for shipping to
save you money.

Benches
Price of
frame is $185.00
Optional Signs and Seat pricing
vary depending upon preferences.

|
All clubs need benches at each
station and many other places around the range.
To keep people
shooting, benches are a necessity. All shooters, especially older
ones and ladies, will want to stop and take a rest for a few
minutes. I have been to clubs that don't have a place to sit down
for a short rest, and I found myself shooting fewer targets.
I know that
benches are another expense, but they are one that should not be
overlooked. Good benches that are easy to move, will help the
trappers. How much should a club spend on benches is a sixty-four
dollar question. Here is my solution to avoid the expense. Buy my
benches. They are not expensive, and can even be a cash source for
the club by selling signage and increasing time spent shooting
thanks to these rest stops. The benches that I build are made of 1½
square tubing.
Because of
shipping costs, we suggest buying only the frame. This will save you
money. The cost of the frame is $185.00. The frames can be unbolted
(four bolts only) for cost efficient shipping. For those on a
budget, I think you will find that purchasing the frame only and
purchasing the signs and seats locally will save money.
If you prefer a
totally finished product, we can include the signs and your seat
preference. The cost for the signs and seats can vary with materials
used.

Attitude Adjuster
Shown with Trap Machine
(trap machine not included)

 |
The Attitude Adjuster was the first
commercial tilting trap base ever built.
I got the idea for
this base after a trip to River Road Sporting Clays in Gonzales
California. I saw two traps on wooden pallets that had cinder blocks
under one side. With the machines tilted, the targets that came out
had a curl in their flight. Most of the shooters at this tournament
(1996 US Open) didn’t like these presentations. For some reason they
seamed hard to hit. Being a target setter for the previous ten
years, I looked at this idea as a new dimension in target setting.
Here was something I could build a style out of. After playing with
machines on pallets for a while I found I really like these
presentations although they were hard to set. That’s when the
Attitude adjuster became a reality.
I sold many of
these bases for years and was working with Andy Perkins (who had
brought Promatic to the US) about selling the bases for me. Before
we could work out a deal every machine manufacture began building a
tilt with their bases. I found that presentations were unlimited.
During the early years of the sport adding a curl to your targets
was not very popular. Today throw an edge-on target and you will be
hammered by many shooters.
I quit making the
Attitude Adjuster for many years but after noticing so many older
machines still in use I decided to start building them again. If you
have an older trap that doesn’t tilt, here is the solution.
No other tilting
base can accomplish what the Attitude Adjuster can. I use an all
thread rod and crank handles to make the base tilt. There are no
tools required, and you can make adjustments in seconds. These bases
come with wheels and a hitch for towing, or you can get them with a
base that is designed for a forklift.
